Educational Human Rights House — Chernihiv is looking for an Executive Director
🌐 A little about us: we are a civil society union of 13 Ukrainian CSOs. Our House is part of the international Human Rights Houses Network, which brings together more than 80 civil society organisations across different countries.
The mission of EHRH–C is to protect human rights through education and monitoring, and to support human rights defenders at risk.
We work on human rights education, support human rights defenders in situations of risk, and document war crimes.
And right now our organisation is looking for an Executive Director.

VACANCY: Executive Director, CSU “Educational Human Rights House – Chernihiv”
Location: primary — Chernihiv office; secondary — Kyiv office, Ukraine (with the possibility of domestic and international travel). Partial remote work is possible.
Type of employment: Full-time / part-time (discussed individually).
Form of engagement: Fixed-term employment contract.
Reporting to: the Board of EHRH–C and the General Assembly.
Key responsibilities:
- General management: Strategic planning, coordination, and oversight of the House’s operational and administrative areas of activity (organisational development, EHRH–C resource platforms).
- Fundraising and donors: Securing funding, communicating with international and national donor organisations, and ensuring transparent financial reporting.
- Network coordination: Facilitating the joint work of the Human Rights House’s member organisations to create synergy.
- Advocacy: Representing the organisation’s interests at national and international venues (UN, OSCE, Council of Europe, etc.).
Requirements for candidates:
- Higher education (preferably specialised in management, human rights, or civil society organisations).
- At least 3–5 years of experience in a leadership or administrative role in the civil society sector (NGO).
- An understanding of the human rights situation in Ukraine, of non-formal human rights education, and of the context of documenting international crimes and international humanitarian law.
- Experience in successful fundraising and the management of grant budgets.
- Fluent command of Ukrainian and English (written and spoken advocacy).
- An understanding of the specifics of the work and a connection to the human rights community.
- Strong communication skills, responsibility, diligence, attentiveness, and initiative.
